Hello Friends and Family,
We are honored to launch our 17th annual Thanksgiving fundraising campaign for The Caring Place at the Miami Rescue Mission. This year holds a deeper meaning as we carry on this tradition in memory of our grandparents, Joel and Susan Channing (Papa and Gaga), who both sadly just passed away. We are devastated by these losses but know that they would want us to continue our work. Since the beginning, Papa and Gaga have volunteered with us on Thanksgiving. Papa was particularly admired for his legendary role as “The Friend” who engaged deeply with the guests through personal conversation, sitting and eating with them, and playing chess. His magic was making people feel special. Papa has inspired hundreds of volunteers to similarly be present and kind.
We support The Caring Place because we love what they do: they empower struggling individuals experiencing homelessness to get back on their feet and become productive members of the community. Simply put, they offer a fresh start. The Caring Place provides invaluable resources including food, shelter, clothing, toiletries, showers, haircuts, medical care, mental health counseling, substance abuse treatment, tutoring, job training, employment, and access to permanent housing.
With your generosity, The Caring Place’s doors are always open, rain or shine, 365 days a year. Please help us exceed our goal of raising $15,000, while also honoring the unforgettable memory of our Papa and Gaga, by clicking on the “Donate Now” button.
