About the Artist: Brian Peterson
After years of prayer, thoughtful dialogue, and planning, we are thrilled to announce that a mural by renowned artist Brian Peterson has been installed at our Miami Wynwood campus!
Brian is the founder of the Faces of Santa Ana movement, where he uses his gift as a painter to tell the stories of individuals experiencing homelessness through powerful and deeply human portraits. His art brings visibility, dignity, and voice to those society often overlooks, and it has sparked conversations and change in communities across the country.
In addition to Faces of Santa Ana, Brian has created murals and public art installations in cities like Los Angeles, Santa Ana, and Detroit—each one reflecting themes of hope, redemption, and human connection. His work has been featured on major media platforms such as NBC, the Today Show, and People Magazine, and more importantly, it has helped restore value and purpose to the lives of many through art and relationship.
Now, we have the privilege of bringing Brian’s heart-centered artistry to our very own campus. This mural will not only be a beautiful addition to our space—it will also stand as a testament to the transformative work God is doing through The Caring Place at Miami Rescue Mission.
The concept of Free Indeed is designed to seamlessly integrate the spiritual and celebratory aspects of The Caring Place’s ministry. At its center, a radiant divine light illuminates the face of a man in prayer, symbolizing spiritual guidance and support. To the left, a graduate ascends a staircase, representing the beginning of a new chapter following the completion of the mission’s restorative life program. The composition highlights both the faith-based foundation and the transformative journey of those served by the ministry.
Behind the scenes of Free Indeed
A special Thank you and behind the scenes view of the creation of Free Indeed by Brian Peterson. The making of the mural was a family affair as Brian’s brother, Sean Peterson was a helping hand in creating this piece.
