Together we Can Make a Difference

In our community, every meal is more than just food—it’s a beacon of hope and a symbol of compassion. We The Caring Place have been serving South Florida for 100 plus years! Our local faith-based shelter plays a vital role in providing not only nourishment but also dignity and support to those who need it most.

Join us in this essential mission. Let’s come together to spread hope, compassion, restoration and transformation to make a lasting impact. Donate today and be a part of the change that our community so desperately needs.

Let your company double or triple your Impact.

Many companies offer matching gift programs to encourage employees to contribute to charitable organizations. You give an amount and they will donate the same. Most of these programs match contributions dollar for dollar, and some will even double or triple the amount of your gift! 100% of both donations goes directly to The Caring Place. Double your support to help the homeless, hungry and needy living in South Florida through participation in your company’s matching gift program! To find out if your company will match gifts to The Caring Place contact your HR department. Questions?

Did You Know Your Old Car Could Make A Valuable Difference?
Turn your car, motorcycle, boat or RV into a valuable donation.

This is a wonderful way to give to The Caring Place and get a tax savings benefit at the same time. The Caring Place will handle all the paperwork to process your donation with the DMV so that you can avoid the inconvenience of dealing with the paperwork yourself.

Follow the steps below and you will be on your way to help The Caring Place provide food and shelter for the hungry and homeless people living in South Florida.

  1. Contact our The Caring Place at 305-572-2063 to arrange drop off or pick up

Giving Commodities to The Caring Place

+

You know not to put all your eggs in one basket. But did you know….
Savvy farmers who put some of their eggs – or grains, nuts, berries, corn, or even livestock – in the giving basket avoid taxes AND have tremendous Kingdom impact. For many generous farmers, commodities are more cost-effective to give than cash! When you give commodities to The Caring Place prior to the sale, you can reduce your taxable income – even if you take the standard deduction. You may also claim a business deduction for the production costs of the commodity (such as animal feed, fertilizer or irrigation), regardless of whether those costs occurred in the current year or prior years. It’s an over-easy giving solution for your wallet and God’s Kingdom! Are commodities the right giving option for you? We’d love to tell you more. Call Marilyn
Brummitt at 305-571-2206 or email her contact@caringplace.org

Remembering the Miami Rescue Mission in Your Will

+

Making a bequest to the Miami Rescue Mission is a meaningful way to leave a legacy of hope and service. A gift of any size will contribute to the long-term strength of our mission and help us continue serving those in need.

What if you don’t have a will or living trust?

+

You’re not alone—many Americans don’t have a will. If you pass away without one, the laws of your state will determine how your estate is distributed. This often means your assets will go to your closest surviving relatives based on a legal formula, leaving nothing for causes you care about, like the Miami Rescue Mission. To ensure your wishes are honored, we encourage you to work with an experienced attorney to create a will or living trust that reflects your goals for your estate.

Ways to include a Charitable Gift in your Estate Plan
There are several ways to define the amount of your gift to the Miami Rescue Mission:

A specific gift of money: For example, $25,000.

A specific item or items: For example, 1,000 shares of ABC Corporation.

Conditional gift: For example, $25,000 provided we still offer a particular program or service, or if your spouse does not survive you.

Residuary gift: A percentage of the remainder of your estate after all other bequests, debts, and taxes are paid. For example, you might give 25% of your estate’s remainder. This ensures your loved ones are prioritized while still allowing you to support our mission.

Directing the use of your Bequest

+

You have several options to guide how we use your bequest:

1. Unrestricted gift: For general purposes, allowing us to use your donation where it is needed most.

2. Restricted gift: For a specific use, such as a program or location that matters to you. We recommend consulting with us to ensure your wishes can be fulfilled.

3. Endowed gift: Your donation becomes part of our endowment, ensuring lasting impact. We distribute funds based on our endowment policy, and this gift can be restricted or unrestricted.

4. Honorary gift: A tribute to someone special. Any type of gift can also honor someone, and we will recognize their significance as you wish.

Ensuring we can fulfill your wishes
It’s crucial that your bequest is accurately described in your estate plan to ensure your intentions are carried out. We’re happy to consult with you to ensure clarity and alignment with our mission. Include the following in your bequest to avoid confusion:

Legal Name: Miami Rescue Mission Inc.
Address: 3553 NW 50th ST Miami Fl, 33142
Federal Tax Identification Number: 59-1743865

We can also provide sample bequest language for you and your attorney.

Tax Benefits
Your bequest is revocable, meaning it does not qualify for an income tax deduction when created. However, your estate will receive a tax deduction for the bequest’s full value in the year it is made. This deduction may reduce estate taxes depending on the size of your estate and prevailing laws.

Bequest Alternatives

+

In addition to traditional bequests, you can:

• Designate the Miami Rescue Mission as a beneficiary of a life insurance policy.

• Name us as a beneficiary of an IRA or retirement plan.

• Make us a beneficiary of savings bonds.

• Instruct your bank to “pay on death” to the Miami Rescue Mission from a specific account.

• Instruct your brokerage to “transfer on death” to the Miami Rescue Mission from a financial account.

If you include the Miami Rescue Mission in your estate plans, please let us know. We would be honored to thank you and ensure we can fulfill your wishes.

Example
Suzanne, a longtime supporter of the Miami Rescue Mission, wants to leave a legacy in memory of her late husband. After consulting her estate advisor, she decides to create a residuary bequest in her will. She designates 50% of her estate’s remainder to the Mission, ensuring her family is cared for while supporting the charity that means so much to her.

Benefits:

• Suzanne’s assets remain available for her use during her lifetime.

• The revocable nature of the gift offers flexibility if her circumstances change.

• Her bequest allows her to make a significant and lasting contribution to the Miami Rescue Mission’s work.

Thank you for considering a bequest to the Miami Rescue Mission. Your legacy will help transform lives and provide hope for generations to come.
